bench vs captain's chairs?

Is there any evidence/research that children/passengers are safer in captain's chairs than they would be in a bench in an accident? In particular, would children be safer in captain's chairs in a side impact collision because they are further from the door?

TIA

I don't think there is any evidence on this case. It would reason that the farther center you can get, the safer you would be in a side impact, but there isn't enough data to say one way or the other.
