They have pretty poor crash test ratings.

I have a 2001 model and it has 1 LATCH position and a built-in CR, and 5 TA (I have 5 bucket seats, 3 in the 2nd row and 2 in the 3rd row). I can't wait to get a safer car.

I have one, and  it! It's got two latch positions and four tethers, and one built-in seat. Mine is an 8 passenger model, not sure if that makes a difference.

Budget is $8000 or less IF I can get rid of my leased car. I really want to become a foster parent so I want a vehicle that is a little bigger.

Ideally I want:
--Room for 3 carseats/boosters no problem
--good with gas
--lots of storage

Does that exist??

I'd say the Venture covers all three!

We looked at one when we were shopping for vans and decided against it because the crash tests are just too scary! We went with an '04 Ford Freestar instead. We paid almost $7900 for it. It is a little tight with 4 car seats in it, but 3 fit fine. It has 3 LATCH spots & 3 tether anchors. The cargo area in the back is very roomy. We recently went on vacation for 2 wks and fit all of our luggage (3 suitcases, various bags, etc., etc., etc.,) in the back. I was so tempted to get the Venture for the 8th seat, but when I watched the crash test videos and compared the ratings to other minivans I decided it wasn't worth it.
