I traded my Shannon Blvd for a friend's Diplomat because the Boulevard took up too much space in my car.

When I bought the blvd, I had a minivan. 6 weeks later I realized I was no longer cool and bought a Volvo wagon. The blvd didn't really fit :( so it was a space issue. By the time she outgrows the weight limits on the Diplomat and Roundabouts I have, she will probably be ready for something larger that will fit in my car FF.

If you need the other seat and the one you have isn't working, I don't see why it's a bad thing if you know the history of the seat, the cost difference is OK to you, and you will all benefit from the trade. Also, if the expiration date of the seat is not far away from the one you are trading for...

I would have a lot of questions before I would trade:

Why do you want to trade with her?

What are the ages of the kids involved?

How much "life" do each of the seats have left? (By that I mean how old are they from the date of manufacture listed on the seat?).

Does she feel it would be a fair trade (since the Regent is less expensive)?

If you give her your Regent, what would seat would you put larger children in when they ride in your vehicle?

Do you know how she has treated her seat??
* Does she know that you aren't supposed to soak or iron the harness?
* Has she used harsh chemicals to try to remove stains from her seat/harness?
* Has she ever been involved in any type of crash with that seat installed in her vehicle?
*If one of you has problems with the new seat and wants to trade back (and the other doesn't) will it cause problems in your relationship?

If you don't really want to trade, then I wouldn't. You can get so much more use out of your Regent than you would from a Blvd--Years more use because of the harness height difference. My 2nd child outgrew the Blvd at 4 yrs, 9mos. Now he's 5.5 yrs, in a Regent, and he's not even in the top harness position yet. My 8.5 yr old could still ride in the Regent if he wanted to, and still have room.

A Blvd is great for rear-facing, but if you are already past that point, then the Regent is a much better seat for you to have around :twocents:.
