I can't believe a couple of techs did this!

About 2 months ago I installed my SIL's Intera
in her car (Acura 98-00?). I couldn't get a satisfactory
fit in the center (Might have been better w/a noodle but
I didn't have one) so I put the seat outboard and after
shedding some blood, sweat, and tears:p , I was finally
able to get a good and tight install. It was a bit tricky.

Well, they had a recall on their seatbelts and the dealership
took the seat out and then installed it FF. My SIL took it to
a check to have it put in RFing (she lives 2 hours away from me)
and the crazy tech installed it practically laying flat on its back on the seat!

Now, I realize the Intera has a funny shaped bottom but there is a HUGE difference between the right position and the wrong one. And it is soooo
very obvious that it's reclined too far.
It's also too loose. But, the center is the safest and that's where the seat belongs:rolleyes: ...they wouldn't even consider putting it outboard!

And now here's the clencher...I saw it in her car like this but she WOULDN'T
LET ME FIX IT! I have to wait until tomorrow to install it properly!
RRAARRGGGHH! So I've got my noodle and exacto knife ready and I'm
probably not gonna sleep too well tonite, lol!

Sounds like a break-in is in order! No, no, it would cost too much. :D

Argh, at least you know the seat isn't in correctly. I know you'll love the challenge, but it is sad to think someone could be happily driving around town with their baby in a similarly installed seat.

I agree, I'd contact someone about these techs. :(

I see so many RF seats over-reclined. I left a note on the windshield of one car with a Touriva laying completely flat. It looked to be installed through the correct belt path, and fairly tight, from what I could tell...but flat on its back.

Nope, I didn't get to fix it today...despite my best efforts:( .

She said she would just let me fix it next time she came to visit:eek: !
I told her how terribly unsafe it is like this and she promised to try to fix it when they got home and then to take it back to have it done properly
in the morning.
I'll be calling her in the morning...

She's actually pretty good about letting me boss her around with the car seat issues....WAY better than my other SIL who ALWAYS chooses her
own conveinance over the safety of her children like the time she refused
to comletely buckle her kid in her seat and just did up the chest clip
because the coat was in the way...but that was ok because the seat
was tethered and that makes it safe:confused:
or like how the other day she told me
that she wasn't going to bother putting her teeny-tiny almost one year old
in a rfing convertable because it's just too hard...she is so tiny she still fits
(I think my 4.5 month old weighs more than her 11 month old!)
in the Evilflo On My Way and that thing has a super short shell.
Ugh! Family...sometimes you just can't win.

Oh, and she said she had it done by a tech at the police station...
and I'm gonna email my instructor in the morning - she knows the guy
who heads up the Montreal people.

I don't know how it works in Canada, but I'd definitely try to find out the name of the tech or at least the location, date & time to discuss with the state coordinator.... YIKES!

As of this weekend it still hasn't been fixed:eek: .
She promised me that she would take it in today, she did say
they haven't been putting him in it (using the other car) because
he dosen't like the recline and cries.

I was able to convince her to keep him RFing...she is pretty good about
doing what is safest, well most of the time:rolleyes: .

I may have to take a trip up to Montreal if she can't find someone
to install it properly. I forgot to ask her the date and place of the clinic...
actually, I'm embarrased to say I had forgotten all about it until
you all reminded me:eek: ! I will definately checK with her tonite and see
if she had it done. DH has been threatening to send me and the girls off
to Montreal for a day or two so he can get finish the house, perhaps I
should take him up on that....
