Love the new AOE, and just..WHY? on the Symphony?

Was at TRU and played with the seats...I  the new AOE. I really like the current one, and the new one, with the higher slots and weight limit, really is way cool. DD had a LOT of room left in it..a whole slot and then some...and 15 pounds. She is a bigger than average 4 yo, so I think this seat will harness many kids to 5 or 6+. Definitely a good value, even if you completely ignore it has a booster option and just use it as a harnessed seat...you'll get more use out of it than a Ma, for example, for a lot less money. I'd love to have one..

The symphony was also okay in terms of room left height-wise..but with a 40 lb limit..the seat is just worthless. WHY? Plus, we still hate the stupid adjuster tab thingies. I'm not sure why anyone would pick it..for a lot less money, you could get the EFTA, which is the same general seat just without a crappy booster option and harness for 10 more pounds.....or for the same money, you could get the new AOE sitting next to it and harness 10 more pounds, and still get the crappy booster option. either way..the symphony offers nothign except the special LATCh clips. Or else you could just spend a heck of a lot less money for any of the numerous other 40 lb seats on the market thast offer reasonable top slot heights. an $80 avenue would give you similar height and weight limits, for example.

ITA with you, I really do not like the Symphony. I played with one at a check today, and hated it.

I liked our Alpha Omega for a harnessed seat, aside from the fact that dd outgrew it by height at 2.5, but now that it goes to 50# and the top headrest setting can be used with the harness, I think it's a pretty awesome seat. I don't generally have trouble installing it, so except for booster mode, I really like the new 50# version.

I wish BRU/TRU would just stop carrying the Tribute or ComfortSport or 40lb EB's and get the Avenue instead...

But anyway...yup, the Symphony is kinda pointless

We had a AOE old version for one of my dds and I will say that it was one of my very favorite seats. For me it installed as easily as my MAs and RA did and was always rock solid in whatever I used car I used it in. My SIL borrowed it one day and then gave it to someone who had no seat. I was so honked off.

The Symphony booster is better than the AOE booster, but still, the symphony is pointless. So glad I get to carry it AND 3 different 40 lbs AOEs! Oh joy.

I don't think the Symphony is worthless. Most parents probably aren't going to harness past 40 pounds. I think this seat will get most kids to 40 pounds, and that is a good thing. It isn't the greatest seat I have seen, but it is definitely not the worst.

I definitely think it will be the vast majority of kids to 40# harnessed (heck, I think it would get the majority of kids to 50#; my hunch is it just didn't pass at a higher weight; why would they go backwards from the Titan Elite and Triumph Advance?). I also like the shape of the seat, the padding, the generous EPS foam, the high RF limits. I do not like how it converts to a booster, though...I think it's way too fiddly for the average parent (even the techs I worked with yesterday had problems with it) to figure out.

no, not the worst..the comfortsport still exists....:p

but my point it..if most parents omly want to harness to 40..okay..that's fine....but they dont need to spend $200 on this seat to do THAT...they can get a much cheaper seat.

Eh. People still buy Roundabouts and Eddie Bauer 3-in-1 seats for $200ish. From what I know about the Symphony, it's a better seat than either of those. Would I buy it? Probably not. Do I think it's the worst seat on the market? Definitely not.
