I was thinking about the variability of LATCH. In my Focus the lower anchors are sticking right up out of the seat. In some cars you have to dig around in the bite of the seat for them...they are really buried! And the angles differ tremendously, some are nearly upright and some are nearly flat.
And then in some cars the tether anchors are on the ceiling, some are on the floor and some are on the dash behind the seat. It seems to me all those different angles would put stress on the seat in different ways in an impact. Do CRS manufacturers test their seats with every conceivable top tether anchor angle?
Has there been any research on the differences?
