When you tighten your Nautilus do you pull the adjuster strap up or down?

Dh pulled the strap up to tighten it today and the entire seat moved! We had to retighten it before leaving school. I always pull it down, but he did get it tighter pulling it up, so how to you tighten you nautilus, and how is it installed? Ours is with the lap-shoulder belt.

Mine is install with LATCH (doesn't move at all). I rarely tighten the adjuster (my niece is at that stage where she has to do EVERYTHING for herself). I just leave it at the correct tightness most of the time, but the times I do adjust it, I pull down.

Any thoughts on if I should be worried that he was able to move the entire seat by pulling up?

I pull it sort of straight out/forwards (since I'm normally yanking on it from the front seat while driving in the car line at school....) but mostly dd does it herself.

I HAVE noticed it can be really hard to get the nauti tight in some vehicles, including my own if I'm not careful....i think because the beltpath is upsort of hig maybe? but i find the top of the seat can be very tight, but the bottom of the seat is loose and you can pull it out fom the seatback. I'm just VERY careful when installing it now, and literally get on it with all my weight and have to re-mount it numerous times using pull in various directions to really get it battened down tightly!
you definitely need to reinstall and make sure the lap portion of the belt is pulled very tightly, and when you check for movement at beltpath, also try pullling up.

We did reinstall it and it seems tighter, but I'm a little concerned that it gives a false sense of tightness. I'm thinking of using latch. The only reason I didn't to begin with is I prefer the Britax style latch connectors. Just to double check, I have an 05 ford expedition, I think the latch limit is 48lbs, right?

Does changing around the recline help at all? I noticed that it doesn't matter in my Focus, but in my mom's Sport Trac it is better all the way out. I don't think it matters much to my niece, but it does matter to the vehicle. Just something to add!

I haven't tried with it reclined, it seems to have quite a bit of recline without it, and my seat back in the truck is all the way up. I'm hoping to get some time tomorrow to play around with it more. It's been raining most of the week and I haven't had the time when it wasn't. I will try reclining it a bit and see what happens.

I usually install with latch, but if I've taken it out for cleaning and have latch and tether stored and I have to install it quick (like if I did it during Ruthie's preschool time), I'll just use the seatbelt and tether and change it later.

I always pull straight out or down... but typically straight out.
