Using the Graco Nautilus as a booster

I have a forty one pound, forty-three inch four year old who rides in a Graco Nautilus (harnessed obviously).

Just for kicks and giggles I tried him in it in booster mode today and it fit him terribly. The lapbelt was practically totally on his belly instead of his hips. I was surprised because the Graco Turbobooster fits him so well.

Has anyone used this as a booster and noticed this?

I tried my 8yo (46lbs, not sure of height- will measure her this afternoon) in booster mode and was reasonably pleased- the belts did hit her across the hips and collarbone- but next to the Monterey, I am just not happy with the lack of side impact protection. It's definately just a higher weight harness seat for us, not a booster.

I like the belt fit on our Nautilus better than our Vivo or Parkway. I'm guessing it can vary by the child/car.

it fits our 11 yr old well.
About it having a lack of SIP..?? I'm confused, I think the headwings are pretty decent?

I do not like the lap belt fit on the nautilus for M. Her stats are in my sig. It is probably still acceptable but the belt rides more over her stomach than I like it to, I'm used to her TB/Frontier which keeps the belt across her upper thighs. I wish they'd done the bottom of that seat more like the TB with the belt guides under the arm rests.

After watching crash test footage of regular hbb vs. those with deep side and head wings, I'm all about the deep wings like on the Monterey. The headwing area of the Nautilus is pretty impressive, but I don't like that there is NO EPS foam in the torso area and it doesn't come out and shield the torso area at all compared to the hbb with deep foam-lined wings.

I'm not sure how it would fit a child who clearly fits the harnesses when used as a booster, but I LOVE it as a booster when I've tried it with my boys... Jeffrey was only a little bit away from being too big for it when we got it... Damian already too big.

here is my review, which includes pics of them modeling it as a booster

when I take pics next week (need new batteries) I'll get new ones and take MORE.
