Husky

I have been meaning to try my friend's kids in my husky so that I can appreciate how long this seat might work. I really appreciated the postings of over 40 # kids in seats, but I wanted to see how kids I knew would fit. The oldest is almost 10 and very tall (although alot of leg), and maybe 65#. She just fit, and commented that it was really comfortable. She said that she would prefer it to no seat, and she has been out of a carseat since she was 2 or so. When she went back with her mom she just raved about how great the seat was, and how she would like one! The second child, 6, was actually in a booster tonight, because she wanted to since her 3 year old sister was at home. Unfortunately, she had the shoulder belt, behind her back. I explained to her for the millionth time, why she should not do that, and she agreed. Her mom said that it was a real challenge and I suggusted she try the regent to remove that hurdle. We will see!

My 4.5 yo daughter is on the second slots. Average torso. She'll make it to 8 yo.
My 6 yo son is on the top slots. He obviously is all torso. I think he would have another 6 months or so, at the rate he's growing. Totally depends on the kid...but still, even for long torsoed kids, getting to 7 yo in a harness is awesome. :D

My stepdaughter (shown in the picture below) is 8 now ~65# 4'7" & leggy ... she still has at least 1/2 inch left in the Husky, possibly 1" if I tried the recline bar :)

Her mom had her out of a harness by her 3rd birthday & then out of a seat altogether by 4, but moved her back into a backless booster when the new law took effect ... kiddo LOVES the Husky & enjoys showing her friends the tag with a picture of a cartoon crying baby crossed off that reads "This is a BIG KID seat, not a baby seat"! :D

The video(s) in THIS LINK helped reinforce safer behaviors in the vehicle -- she learned the importance of using the seatbelt & booster correctly ... it also helped to practice living room floor crash test scenarios comparing the act of flipping her off the couch with a belt only around her hips & booster vs. a long scarf keeping her upper body restrained into the highback booster as well ;)
