Compass booster as carry-on?

Has anyone taken their compass folding booster on a plane as carry-on? I just picked up a b530 (the b510 is not available in Canada), and was surprised by how bulky it is when folded. I guess I'm spoiled by the RN, which folds so flat. The b530 came with a carrying bag but it looks to be bigger than our carry-on size suitcases. We have flights on 3 different airlines in the next few months (AirTran, JetBlue and Southwest), so if I keep this seat, I want to make sure I'm not going to have any trouble taking it on the plane.

I tried with a B510. It wasnt going to happen. Not only was the over head comparment small, but it was sloped. KWIM?

So, I ended up wrapping it with some bulky baby blankets (I was also traveling with an 18 mo old.) and put it inside the travel bag and handed it to the check baggage person. There really wasnt anything more I could do, other than carry it on my lap. :p

I was on an Express Jet, so it was quite small. I think it should fit on bigger aircraft though.

Good luck.

I gate-checked the Compas B30 on a cross country flight to LA, with no problem. I knew it wouldn't fit in the overhead, so it was always my plan to carry it through security, walk up to the plane and gate check. No one blinked an eye, and the seat came right up off the runway when we de-planed.

hth!
