Ok so the girls are going to Arizona in a few weeks and I am wondering if legally can they put J in a booster at 38lbs?? Do they have to go by our provincal laws since they will be in a rental car and will be in rental seats??
They always rent seats when they go though I would prefer that they bring the seats especially since they could buy a Compass for K and bring a Radian for J but I have talked to them about it and they choose to rent.

Above is the link to the AZ law. It is my understanding that anyone operating a MV is bound to follow the MV laws of the state of locale in which they are driving, at least in the US.

AZ law says children under the age of 5, regardless of weight must be in a restraint (i.e. car seat or booster). It states that if a child has outgrown a car seat at or near 40lbs they may use a booster. I do not see a proper use clause.

BTW, AZ updated their law in Oct 2007. They used to have a weight associated with the age but now it's just 5 and under needs something.
