Need help - child unbuckling chest strap on 5pt harness

My nearly 6 year old perpetually unbuckles his chest strap on his 5pt harness (he's special needs and in the Graco CarGo). He isn't capable of undoing the one between his legs, but if it weren't for our 4 yo telling us he'd done it, he could be so hurt if we got into an accident! I am tired of pulling over to restrap him in. He doesn't understand (cognitive delays) that it's dangerous and isn't physically capable of redoing it himself. Is there anything out there that we can strap over that clasp so he can't undo it? Otherwise, I was thinking of taking the clasp off and turning it upside down on the straps so that it's harder for him to do...Thanks for any help you can offer!!

Try putting some velcro (prickly side) over the buttons that you push in to undo the chest clip. He may dislike the feeling and leave it alone.

Can you give him a toy with various buckles, velcro, snaps and buttons to play with in the car? That might keep his hands busy so that he doesn't undo the chest clip.

Also the chest clip is a pre-crash positioning device that can break in a crash.
