Uhhh...not in love with the Frontier

So I got my Frontiers and, it's not love at first (or second, third, fourth) sight. I don't like those straps! And the install is a bloody killer in my van.

Sigh. Back they went to Target. Got Nautilus instead.

I do however really like the Monterey and so does dd. Unfortunately dd2 does also and is really balking at another Nautilus. sigh...

No one had this experience with the Frontiers? Maybe I'm crazy  also that splitter plate issue freaked me out, I must admit.

Anyway I think for now dd1 will use ds' new Nautilus, he will be in our extra seat, a Platinum Cargo, and when the girly GN comes out, she'll get that.

I also bought an extra Monterey for "emergencies" for her (i.e. when dh takes her in his car for short errands, very unusual). She loves the seat but is very suggestible :p so will go for the GN if there's pink on it :LOL

Actually although I know it's not nice for me to be somewhat glad others have found this problem, it does make me feel like less of a crazy loon for not liking a Britax seat!

Well maybe on the next go-round they'll fix the straps, splitter plate thing, weird cupholders, and weird install problems. One can hope. And some niftier colors (I particularly would like that tie-dye that was on the Parkway ...) For that much money, mommy should love the seat too! :p

You know, I haven't tried the Frontier in person, AND I bought a Nautilus before it came out, but the higher top slots and the more affordable price tag, along with easier installation and no issues was what did it for me.

Now, don't get me wrong, for people who don't like the Nautilus for whatever reason, I'm glad it's out there as another option, but I really couldn't ever see spending that much on the Frontier when the Nautilus is such a great seat.

Oh, and I love the Monterey, too

I had similar issues and I think the install is just a pain in the rear in many vehicles--I've read a lot of people had trouble.

I am so glad I'm not the only one!! I just got my DD's Frontier yesterday, and I already really dislike it. I packed it back up and will have to eat the return shipping.

I have an '05 Town & Country and, although I got a tight install with LATCH one time, I have been unable to replicate it consistently. The install issues really limit what seating positions the Frontier can be used in (not to mention the seat belts are too short for the LBP option).

I'm going with the Nautilus. My DD is going to be mad going from red to gray. Oh well.

I guess that's why the make chocolate, vanilla, & strawberry...everyone likes different stuff. :shrug-shoulders:

I adore our Frontiers, even with the difficult installs. And the splitter plate isn't freaking me out too bad...I am confident Britax will correct the issue. What does is annoy me is the seat covers being hand wash only; ours looks like ca-ca & it's not even the rainy season in Seattle yet.

But I still adore the seat. I just couldn't buy a Graco....I simply don't like their products.

I really like our Frontier as well and haven't had any install issues at all (I've installed it in 6 different cars so far). I've had the strap twist in the buckle tongue a few times, but for me it's really easy to prevent if I just drape the straps over the armrests and out of the way (so I don't have to go digging for them). My son loves the seat too. We have the red one, which I don't think shows dirt as much as the pink one that others have. We also have a Regent and I love that too!

Latia, you're right. Our red one looks WAY better than the pink one. Admittedly the pink gets used more, but I think it's just the lighter color. I still love the seat, though.

your belts should be long enough... I always did long belt path with the Regent, except for in the center of the third row, where there was only a lap-only belt, which meant I had to do short path because that was the instructions.... AND I always used the recline bar.

I second that. I have an 05 Grand Caravan (basically same car) and did LATCH and LBP (with Frontier)in the captain's seat. I couldn't fanagle a SBP though in the captains seats because of where the buckle is. It was tight but worked
