Well insurance is giving us a hard time reimbursing. I'm afraid we're going to have to get a lawyer. We should have dealt directly with the person at fault's insurance I think. Our insurance co isn't advocating for us as much as I'd like. We only got half of what we paid for a rental back, and the adjuster just called and said they didn't want to pay for new carseats b/c they weren't needed. I took off the covers and threw the seats in the dumpster on a rainy night the night before trash pickup so no one would find them. They sat in my living room until I remembered to take them out a night that the garbage truck would come the next morning. It was extra luck it was raining.
Is someone who is a technician here willing to send me an email stating their name, their qualifications (do you get a CPS # or something?) and a statement saying you advised me to destroy the old carseats and get new ones? I would really appreciate it!
He works for MY insurance. They won't be paying the money, I don't know why he is acting like I'm crazy first for replacing the carseats and second for spending $900 on 4 carseats. I told him that that was actually less than the retail price for the 4 carseats we had in the van. He said since no one was in them, they didn't need to be replaced! Can someone please send me an email that I can fax to him telling him why I needed to replace the seats, perhaps that it is NHTSA's guidelines, etc? I would appreciate it so much!!! Thanks!
