Britax Wizard Custom Car Seat Covers?

I'd like to get a replacement carseat cover for our Wizard (denim). It's around 4 years old and hasn't worn well. The elastic is shot, and it's faded and wearing thin. And DD1 covets DD2's pretty Shannon Boulevard seat. LOL

I've read some other posts here on CarSeat.Org about issues with custom carseat covers, and how they might not be flameproof, how they may affect the fit of the seat/buckles/etc, how the padding would not have been tested with the seat, and how it voids the warranty. Warranty issues aside, are there any reputable companies selling replacement covers for the Wizard, or are we destined to search for ones that come from expired seats and the like?

As you've read in previous posts, aftermarket covers are a no-no. Unfortunately, since the Wizard is discontinued and Britax is no longer making covers for it, you're stuck with the secondhand market. I have heard of someone modifying a Marathon cover to fit a Wizard (or maybe a Boulevard) but I wouldn't necessarily recommend that.

If you scope Ebay enough I have seen a few auctions for the authentic Britax cover for the Wizard, but they can get pricey since they are very hard to find.;)

The flamability issues with aftermarket covers is not joke. Just ask one of our members whose van caught on fire after another car that was smoking parked next to them. She has photo's of her seats. It's not pretty.

I would suggest stalking Ebay, or maybe searching Craigslist to see if someone has a Wizard that they are selling with a cover that is in decent shape.

Thanks all! For the prices folks are asking, I think I should consider selling the Wizard and getting a girly Nautilus once they are available. I appreciate the help in thinking through the issue.

Just because people are selling their seats on Craigslist doesn't mean that its really right. With a seat that doesn't have that much time left on it (yours expiring in about 2 years) people buying it may use it past the expiration, thus endangering their kids. I would never buy a used seat from a person that I wouldn't trust my child life with.

Any of those people selling their seats, I would just email them and ask if they are willing to sell just the cover and then destroy the seat, due to the fact that they are close to expiration. You should be able to snag a cover for about $30 or so I would think.
