i have been shopping around for the last few months trying to decide what carseat to get my DS. well, i have finally decided on the recaro como... i think. anyway, i have been noticing that they are now all on sale.

does anyone know why this is? are they coming out with newer models? should i wait to buy b/c their new models may be better? do you think they are being permanently discontinued?

anyone have the inside scoop on why these seats are on sale?

TIA for your help :)

Not a clue. I've purchased two from a local baby store and both DOM were about a year old so I returned them. I check back frequently and they only have old DOM. I'm not brave enough to buy online to get a year old seat. For that kind of money I want my full 6 years of use.

My only thought is, they aren't very popular seats. I mean, they're great. I'm waiting anxiously to get one! But they aren't bought often. Maybe the demand is so little that they don't produce as many lately and need to get rid of old DOM's?

Or maybe we can hope they made some improvements and a better Signo/Como are coming out?? We can hope anyways:whistle:

All I know is they rarely go on sale. I am curious as to why also. I hope they aren't discontinuing them. I really need a newer DOM! I've never seen newer than Oct of 07

The Como and Signo seem to be on sale a lot. I don't think it's out of the ordinary. I don't think Recaro has price fixing like Britax, so stores have more wiggle room as well.

I've been looking the past few months and it isn't until recently where it seemed to drop below $269ish.
Maybe I'm not looking in the right places!

I just think they don't sell many... that's the only way to get them off the shelves is to lower their prices

And to the OP, I'd go with the Signo, way more shoulderoom than the Como. Here're some pics I took of the Como the one day I had it http://picasaweb.google.com/joolstag/Como (I keep my kids rearfacing to the weight limits in our main car, and this seat was way too hard for me do deal with, so we need something easier to get dd in and out of, so I returned it).

I agree...skip the como. The head wings are uncomfortable and close, they are removeble, but have some wierd rules about that, you have to rethread the harness, the shoulder room is very tight. The signo has an adjustable more comfortable headrest that moves with the harness, you never have to rethread the harness, and there is much more shoulder room.

We had only the Signo and loved it. But I also agree...rear facing for an older child is a pain. I would not have used this seat rear facing for my oldest (who I bought it for) we only used it forward facing. It was just way too much work!

Hope you find something that works

jools~ thank you for posting those pics. they are very helpful to see. but now i am more confused than ever!!! i dont know what to do? i really wanted to buy a seat with the highest height max for my 32lb 39in 3 y/o and i thought the como was the next highest behind the regent. the regent turns me off b/c it is so big, looks less comfy, and isnt airline approved. (do people just have 2 seats one for car and one for flying?)

evie's~ thanks for your feedback too!!! the signo has top shoulder harness height of 18" as apposed to the comos 19". that is why i was leaning towards the como. if i do go down to a seat that maxes out at 18" then i have a whole lot more seats to consider. and i wonder if it would just be smarter to go with the regent? since i dont know how long my DS would really be in a seat that only goes up to 18"?

oh i am SO confused!!!! :(
