Signo Belt Guide

I'm considering the purchase of a Signo and am wondering about the FFing belt guides. I know it does not have lock offs... but if I understand correctly, I wouldn't need a locking clip b/c my car locks at the retractor. It can be locked my ratcheting it back or it can lock in a crash. Is the purpose of the belt guide to hold the seat tightly in place until a crash when the car would then hold it in place with its locking mechanism? Can the belt guides handle a good amount of load... such as a large kid in the seat and quick driving on a twisty road... or an emergency maneuver? The guides on my Como seemed so weak... but I know they made some changes to these.... I'm just wondering how substantial the change is.
Thanks!
