Vent Honda LATCH and tether weight limit

I called Honda today to ask what my LATCH and Tethers weight limit is. He said I have to refer to my car seat manual or call the car seat company as they make new seats every year and they would know. I kept telling this young sounding man, in my car seat manual it says to call the car company.
I gave up on him and called Britax about the LATCH and Tether weight limit. For my 2006 Pilot, that LATCH and Tether is 40lbs max. I have a Wizard and the lady told me to not use the tether past 40lbs. If I did and something happend they are not responsible. I also have a Regant and she told me I need to use it even though the tether is 40lbs. She told me it is a big seat plus the weight of the child. In the Regant manual is does say in red letters must use tether 50lbs and up. The honda man got me so mad becuse all car seat companys make car seats for all types of cars not knowing what weight limit the LATCH goes to in a crash. Thankfully I got my answers from britax.

If only this information was required to be included in the owner's manual for every vehicle, then you wouldn't have had to go through such a run around to find it. :( Thank goodness we have the LATCH manual to help us sort out the LATCH system. :) The LATCH manual states Honda's LATCH weight limit is 40 lbs. and this is the weight of the child. That said, the LATCH manual also advises to keep using the top tether beyond 40 lbs. with a seatbelt installation for any forward facing harnessed child restraint because of the benefits of top tethering. A detailed explanation of the recommendation to top tether is at: http://www.saferidenews.com/html/LATCH_P49.htm and

I know I will be going against what the Britax rep told me. She said not to tether 40lb+ I did not like that feeling. Thank you so much for getting the info for me and others out there that needed it. I feel better tethering past 40lb I always thought I had to tether until my child out grew the seat, then I go and talk to britax and they say other wise. I never thought of weight limits on the LATCH or Tethers when we bought are cars, on the next car we buy, I will.
