Boulevard CS harness height

Is really low. Abnormally low. Oddly low.

I was in BRU tonight, and tried to see how the CS worked. First off, it didn't click. I thought maybe the kid needed to be in it, so I dialed up the harness to put Charlie in. I got it up as far as it would go, and it was LOW. He had almost no room left in it at all. I put a regular BV on the bench beside it (the one with the old headwings), and he had probably an inch more growth in the old style BV. He is very close to outgrowing the BV anyway (especially when installed in my car), but I would say he has effectively outgrown the BV CS. I was shocked. I know he's a big kid, but he just turned three less than 2 weeks ago... I would be ultra angry to be a common parent and have my kid outgrow that seat that early.

Oh, and the harness never clicked. Ever. Maybe this seat was an all around dud.

And I tried the new AOE. It looked like it was strangling him. Yes, he had a lot of room to grow (more than in a MA), but the harness itself came alive and was trying to choke him. Really folks, I saw it happen.

I tried dd in one and it did seem like she had less room, but she's a long way from outgrowing them so I assumed it was just me. I really didn't like the older style and had a lot of issues with it and I was wondering if the cs would be any better. I didn't really see much that would make me want to pay more for it, especially if it really is shorter.

hmm..i think we need to get clarification on this.....hence more people must go see some BV CS's in person!!
But really..the slots are already low for a 65 lb seat..any lower....and it will be a complete rip-off, it might just as well be a 40 lb seat.

Please tell more about the AOE.....I want one, but not if it's going to strangle my ds.....he's so small, and can't protect himself...!! :D

I had two new AOE try to beat me up in a car today. Seriously, they are scarier than they look!

I couldn't get the new BV to click, either. Granted, I didn't have a kid with me, but I stuck my arm in it to simulate a child's shoulders (it works to get the harness to stop on other Britax models), but it wouldn't click. Not that you should take that as proof of anything. Just saying.

The AOE, I don't know. I got it to the appropriate height, and buckled him... and just the geometry of the harness was OFF for him. Might have to do with the extremely long harness covers that are short in front and really long in back (the car seat had a mullet). I *think* it was to put a bit of padding between the kid and the chest clip, which is a very nice touch (and would also give parents visual/tactile clue of where the chest clip needs to be), but it was just wrong all the way around. He didn't complain about the harness on the Radian, which is so close to the neck, but I could tell this harness was really upsetting him. He wanted OUT of that seat. I couldn't figure out quite why, but it really looked like it was strangling him. AJ agreed... it didn't fit right. I can't tell you where it was off, but it was OFF.
