Problem with Marathon buckle~where to buy

The buckle on our Marathon is not clicking. I went to get a new one on Britax's site and they want 11.60 for shipping! Is there any other place to buy from? That seems insane.

Have you tried washing it out? Often little crumbs from little fingers get in there and clog it up. There are directions in the manual for how to remove and wash the buckle.

do you allow drinks in the car? Ours stopped clicking when ds spilled lemonade in his seat. Compressed air won't clear out sticky. I soaked mine for about an hour and it's as good as new.

One benefit to ordering a new one (outrageous, though the shipping may be) is that the new ones have a double click buckle- meaning both buckle tongues click when inserted instead of just the second one.

I thought that you had to order new buckle tongues also if you wanted the double click buckle?

yes, you have to order a whole new harness set- straps, tongues, crotch buckle to get the double click buckle. but I thought that's the only way they're offering the crotch buckle at this point.

edit: I see on their site that they have the solo buckle now. okay, I might take that back.

though, this is what it said in the CPS express when the change was announced-

Since the buckle and the harness work together as a system, beginning in February 2008 these two items will only be available as a set for warranty claims and consumer purchase. If replacement of one (harness with buckle tongues or the buckle) is needed, they will need to be replaced as a set. The new buckle and buckle tongues are not interchangeable.
