Taking CPS course

Has anyone had trouble registering for the tech course if you are not associated with a hospital, fire dept, police dept. etc? There is a workshop in July relatively close to me and I am trying to get registered, but I don't know if they will let me in because I am not 'official.'

Thanks!

It shouldn't be a problem. I don't know anyone personally who's a tech who IS associated with anything. I'm not one yet, and I'm just a stay at home mom. Another is a realtor, another is another stay at home mom and her husband is a CPST and he's a computer programmer.

Thanks for the input. I am in Texas, so I hope it is not dramatically different here. I won't know for a few weeks whether or not I got into the class. It is scheduled for July. This will be my only shot at it for a couple of years, I am pregnant with #3, due in October. It is rare for me to leave my babies until they are at least 18 months, so that would mean it would be a couple of years until I could try again!

I *think* I recognize your name from the Aug' '02 board? I have an Aug. '02 preschooler and hang out at the faith board with Kathy Z. I frequently use the Aug. board as a means to get the the other board since it does not have a direct link in cyberspace. I have been reading and posting here for several years now, I am car seat obsessed! :)

Thanks again,
Brooke

Sometimes classes are held for a specific group or department and they might give priority to those people. Otherwise, they are usually happy to train anyone if there are spots available. It never hurts to ask!

Hi Brooke! I am also from the aug 02 board. I have been a cpst since I was pg with Liam my aug kid and DH the computer programmer has been a tech since June or July. I have 23 other friends that are SAHM's that took the class with the same people I did.

I hope you get in the class! Congrats on number 3!
