Is weight important when getting out of a booster?

Someone on another board posted their 8yo is 4'11", but only 50#. Is his weight important since he is probably tell enough to sit w/out a booster?

Height and maturity tend to be more important than weight. Some older recommendations did state a weight recommendation like 80 pounds. Those have generally been phased out for height requirements.

in ct state law is 80#. my 9yo (50lb) will be in a booster till she's at least 16.

This act (1) with one exception for children being transported in student transportation vehicles, extends child restraint system use requirements from children under age four weighing less than 40 pounds to children under age seven or who weigh less than 60 pounds, regardless of age;
