How do ya'll secure projectiles in your vehicle?

We have a Suburban, and I'm looking for ideas for securing things properly. When I shop, the food often goes in the back - how do I safely transport canned goods? Someone suggested a zippered duffle that is strapped down. Would that be good?

Also, can anyone tell me if I can use a cargo hook for a top tether AND also cargo strap? Can both be secured to the cargo hook at the same time, or is it just one or the other?

Not a tech, but you can't use the cargo hook for a top tether as far as I know. You would either have dedicated top tethers already or you could have them installed. I wouldn't tie anything down to something holding onto a car seat. It's designed to hold a certain amount of weight & you don't want to overload it.

For big stuff like strollers, you can use those racheting tie downs & your cargo hooks. For the smaller stuff, I think you do the best you can. It's less likely to become a problem if it's right up next to the back seat in the cargo area than being towards the tail gate. IMO, your duffel idea would be decent. Costco has a 2 pack of them for a reasonable price. It's a problem with SUVs and vans. I'm always trying to find a better way to haul stuff in my van.

Some cargo hooks are ok as tether anchors. You just need to read the manual. If the cargo hook are ok as tethers, I don't know if I'd double them up. I guess it would depend on how heavily they're rated. If they can handle 500 pounds then I would assume six cans of soup and a carseat would be ok. I don't know, though.

The duffel bag is a good idea. Or put it in the footwell of the passenger's seat, or on the floor under your RFing seats.

Our cargo hooks are the designated tether anchors for our vehicle. I don't konw how heavily they are rated. How would I find out?

Dunno. Call Chevy? Hope you get someone who has heard the term "tether anchor" before? Or better, just ask how much they can hold safely. Generally I don't think it's a problem, but I don't know what different cars are rated, if there's a standard, if there is a limit, etc. I don't know what my cargo hooks are rated to, or if they are. It's a good question.
