My dh was gone for the day and I haven't gotten my seats checked so I figured I'd check it out.
Okay, I was curious as to how the techs were and what they recommended.
I got there and started filling out all the forms and the guy started checking the seats. After about a minute, he taps me on the shoulder and asked who installed dd1's seat. I said I did. He reaches out to shake my hand and said it was an awesome install!! (I had to laugh cuz as he does the "check" the whole van started shaking)
He keeps checking all the seats and kiddos in the seats and tells me it is the only vehicle that has had all properly installed seats that he's had in his life. And that there were more proper installs in my van than he's had in over 1,000 seats. LOL
So, it was great to *know* that they were right, even though I was quite sure they were. Thanks to all the wonderful techs here who advise us all
Before I left, he came back with the instructor and they told me I did great and that I deserve a gold star and a nice dinner out LOL The guy offered that the lady come over to babysit while we go out. I laughed. She lives nearly 2 hours away. They told me to call next summer when they have the next class because they'd love to have another good tech in my county.
Oh, and they recommend rfing to the limits but didn't say anything about extended harnessing. The tech mentioned he had a 65# 4 yo. I asked what seat he is in and he said a booster. I have to think he's been in one for awhile. The instructor was shocked at how much money I had into my seats. I told her I thought it was worth it. She agreed but said most parents don't think so.
I was impressed by how busy they were. Carseat safety doesn't seem to be too important to most people around here.
Sorry it got so long. Just thought I'd share. It was the first seat check I've seen around since I moved here 2.5 years ago.
