One of my instructors is with the Child Care Coordinating Council ... during the final review she pointed out to me that Daycare providors' vehicles must meet the same requirements as school buses (also that dealerships are supposed to be aware of this) We didn't have time for me to ask specifics at the time & I forgot later -- I've been trying to find information on this & have found nothing....
Some of you might remember that I had a 2005 Escape Hybrid -- the dealership broke the engine during its 1st oil change & after denying me my $ back (which I later learned I was supposed to get), they offered me an exchange for a 2004 Escape Limited (which I accepted & that made it impossible for me to demand my $ back) ... when I discovered that this vehicle was not at all worth what I was paying for, I threatened to write the Atty. Gen. & explained that I was trying to trade it in or sell it for a vehicle that I could use for opening my Daycare -- they gave me some $ back & a 2005 Freestar....
Yesterday, I went in to them again & explained the current predicament: that my CPSTech instructor (who will also be inspecting me to approve my daycare) said I'm required to have a vehicle that meets school bus regulations since I'll be transporting kids to/from school -- they'd never heard of such a thing, called the local school & were told that the school uses minivans & that was that *SIGH* He did say that we could try to exchange again, this time for a Focus (with side curtain airbags & much better gas mileage) + more $ back ... assuming the bank allows it -- then they could give me the name of someone who sells "short buses"
Does anyone have any information, advice, etc. I misplaced her email address & am waiting for a reply from someone else to find her & have also written the NYS CPST coordinator, but am hoping to gather as much information as possible....
THANKS
