What is the best seat to get?

Oh, my little greatniece is so cute and so big! She is 5mths old and 22lbs so she has outgrown her infant seat. Please tell me which seat I should get for her? Her parents (my nephew and his wife) are so young and so broke so I want to help them. Of course I would love to get a marathon but too expensive for me to get. Their car is a 1987 lincoln or somekind of boat like car, lol. Suggestions?

With a 1987 I'd probably go for the Learning Curve True Fit. It has built in lockoffs. It rear faces to 35 pounds forward faces to 65 with 17" top slots.

I also like the Evenflo Triumph Advance, the Cosco Scenera, the Safety 1st Uptown/Avenue, those would all probably work well. They might just need a locking clip, though.

What are lockoffs and locking clips and how do you use them?

Here's a great educational page about seatbelts and locking clips that should help a lot

http://www.carseatsite.com/lockingclips.htm (doesn't show a lockoff in action, but it's just a clamp on the seat itself to hold the seatbelt tight).
