question on modifying britax ma cover

i know hqt after market covers are a no-no. however i purchased about a yard of flame retardent (approved for sleerwear) hannah montana fabric. my dd wants a hannah montana car seat. i was wondering could i make a ruffle for around the edge of her onyx seat cover...like the ruffle that was around the old foofy cover. or could i cover the middle stripe of the onyx cover with it. i would just hand sew it over the actual onyx cover. if anyone happens to know if either of these would be okay. she is especaially angry since i just got her younger sister the brooke marathon and hers is black.. i am going to get her a frontier but not right now as she still fits more so than i thought.

I wouldn't put it anywhere behind her back. I think around the edge, or on the sides might be okay, cause it shouldn't interfere at all with the harness tightness.

thats what i was thinking but i wanted to check. i'll just go around the outside like the foofy cover and maybe make her a belly pad. nothing could ever be as think as the one that came with it.

i thought about that but wasn't sure. it there anywhere i can't place them

I'm not a tech and I'm not advocating modifying the cover by any means. We all know it could void the manufacturer's warranty.

That said, it's not a concern of mine and I did it to my daughter's Nautilus. While I certainly wouldn't cover the entire seat in patches (as if anyone would have the patience for that), I do not see any issue with a few sporadically placed patches. If you search "girlied up Nautilus" you should be able to find my post and see pictures of what I did to mine.

I wouldn't have a problem with something sewed along the edge where it wouldn't interfere with the car seat in any way.

We got patches for DD's Nautilus as well. I just haven't gotten around to put them on

I sewed them on and it wasn't fun, but it was worth it. Make sure you get the right kind of needle because the padding is very thick. My fingers were bloody for a week after.
