Question Locking clips with dog harnesses?

So, while putting our dogs in our old but new to us car last night, I realized we do NOT have locking seatbelts in the outboard positions. Can I use a locking clip on those belts with their ruffrider harnesses to limit their movement a little more? They're used to being harnessed and seemed to do fine but I worry that the little one is going to just randomly decide to try to sit in dd's carseat with her someday.

I do not see why it would hurt them, exspecially if you normally lock the seat belts in the other car they ride in.

Hmmm...would a locking clip be the solution for me? My Boxer is practically strangled by his harness. I have to stop at least three times on the 5 hour drive to my Mom's and unbuckle him to fix it. Our locking latchplates keep pulling him down as more and more webbing is pulled into the latchplate. He ends up stuck on his side with his back in the crack of the seat bight. He struggles and has some pretty bad seatbelt burn by the time we get home. :(

I think I'll try a LC next time.
