Fisher Price Safe Voyage

Albee Baby has the FP Safe Voyage in stock and I was thinking of buying as a second seat for DH's car. Does anyone have it? Like it? Is it fairly easy to install? I've heard that it's made by Britax and is basically a less cushy MA - is that true? Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Yup, that's pretty much how I'd describe it -- although 1 important difference is that I think it's not approved for RF tethering....

You can use the search feature to find other threads about it, too :)

We have one for my Moms car. I actually like it, but the cover leaves a bit to be desired. The DOMs at Albee are likely to be at least a year old, so I would probably wouldn't pay $130 for it at this point, unless they have gone down again.

I wouldn't buy the seat since it has been discontinued. Most of the DOMs being shipped out are 1-2 years old. That really cuts down on the amount of time you will be able to use the seat before it expires.

I would just get a EFTA if it fits in your car. That way you can get the full 6 years out of it.

I have a Fisher Price Safe Voyage Deluxe and I love it!
I was able to get mine New in box (but 2 years old) for $40 a few months ago, and I was so excited. I hope Albee Baby lowers their price soon if it's still $130, the seats they have were made in August 2007 (so I've heard) and they are discontinued now too, they really need to lower their price now.

I do love mine though, and I would totally buy them for that price if they were still made and had brand new DOM's, I really wish they hadn't discontinued them!

Agree with Holly about the FPSVD price on Albeebaby. For $130 you could get an Evenflo Triumph Advance for the same price.

Unless they dropped the price big time, I wouldn't bother.:twocents:

But they have shipped people an MA cover for their FPSV, right? I swear I saw a thread. Was it kidzndogz?

Out of the three car seat that I have(FPSVD, Britax Regent and Baby Trend Flex Loc) I would have to say the FPSVD is my favorite out of the bunch. The only complaint that I have, is that my 2 year old (very long torsoed son) is on the last setting for this seat. Being that this seat has been dicontinued I would not recommend getting it now. The EFTA is around the same price and will not expire so soon. If you really cannot live without a Britax you could see if your local Target still has any Marathons on clearance.

I have had very good luck with Albeebaby but I am puzzled by their behavior with the FPSVD seat.
It has been $129.99 for over a year! And the seats were a year old then.
I don't understand why they don't clearance them out and be done with it. The seats would be fine for people who only need them for 2 or 3 years.
I have two and love them, BUT they have MA covers
and I'm not ashamed to admit it! ;)

i have the FPSVD & i do like it. it does puzzle me why albee hasn't discounted them more. i bought it for the same price a year ago. it was a newish DOM then. someone on anther forum recently bought one & the DOM was in the summer of 07 so really not so terrible. you still have 5 more years with it. the FPSVD can be outgrown any time from 4-6yo so likely for child to outgrow before it expires. so personally if you LOVE the seat & aren't fond of its contender -EFTA then i see no reason not to go for the FPSVD.

I am pretty sure that they are selling them on eBay. And they sell pretty well for close to the same amount on there (at least they were from about a year ago to a few months ago). $95 + $25 shipping, so they aren't losing out on but $5, so why should they lower them and clear out their stock quicker/make less money. Really? I so badly want a different cover for my FPSV. It's so ugly! (at least the one I have is!). I contacted Britax and they have only a few FP covers left and are saving them for warranty issues and they will not sell a new one to me. My cover is well worn but not in need of replacement. Does the MA cover fit as well as the FP cover? I have seen in person a naked FPSV next to a naked MA and they are so similar. Thanks.
