How can you tell if they are short or long straps?

Our local store still has some of these for $129 and i realize they are only up to 48lbs

If they are only going up to 48lbs, you can guarantee that they have an old expiration date too, although for $129, it's not bad. Where are you anyway? They have been out of stock here for a LONG time. As far as short strap, believe me, you'd know. The long straps are so ridiculously long, they often get in the way. (But you still don't want a short strap!)

I did another post about my 3 year old nephew needing a new seat and since no one wants to help me (well not yet lol), i thought about the Radian as i know they will spend as less money as possible. i know ours had some about a month ago but not sure of the dom

Most of the short strap Radians have an August 2006 DOM. If you can get an Oct DOM then you're pretty much guaranteed it'll have the normal length straps.

There's a thread around here that has a c&p email from SK that stated the different harness lot #'s that were short strapped. The harness lot # can be seen right on the straps at the back of the seat, so that's one way to tell. The other way is to extend the straps as far as possible and see how far forward you can pull the buckles - the short strap ones will barely come forward of the buckle. Also, if you drape the straps over the side, the short strap barely go over whereas the normal length will have lots of length to go over the side of the shell.

LOL! I just did this for my 3 year old nephew! Mine was a DOM of Dec '06. I had to take the display model, it was the last one. Thankfully they found the box otherwise I wouldn't have had the rear-facing recline foot thing, or the shoulder strap pads.
