According to this data http://www.informedforlife.org/viewartcl.php?index=24 The 2001-2004 Chevy Astro ranks number 1 for the least amount of driver deaths per million registered vehicles. 2001-04 odyssey is #13 and the sienna is #15.
But, I can only find crash test data for 1996 in which it performs terribly. The dummy driver dies.
I have found that little was changed in 1999. It has all wheel drive and performs well in snow and ice.
Does that mean it gets in less accidents, thus killing less drivers? Is there some testing data out there for newer astros?
The 2004-05 Astro is now on my list of a possible vehicle. It was meant to seat 8 and has power to haul. The newer models have headrests in the outboard locations. Perhaps in 10-12 years when my #5 outgrows a hbb something better will be out.
