Question Completely shot elastic in Britax cover

We moved into this house in April, and I stored our MA in the attic wearing it's cowmoo cover. Our Ashley Floral was in a plastic bag. The cowmoo cover is fine, but the AF cover is totally ruined. I pulled the seat from the attic to clean it up for my five month old, and put the AF cover on before realizing it had no elastic left. It's usable but the loose elastic is going to bug the heck out of me . I guess it's because it was stored in a plastic bag. Is there anyway to fix it other than safety pins? I'm not real crafty  I'm assuming the seat itself is fine since the cowmoo cover didn't die. But I wonder if I should replace the harness/adjuster strap, or was it because of the plastic bag holding the heat? I know it gets hot up there!

I'm not craft at ALL. Can barely sew a button on. LOL I bought some new elastic from Walmart for .97 and sewed it over the old stuff on the back with my sewing machine. It doesn't look pretty, but it's tight and nobody sees the back.

I got an older cover from ebay and the elastic was shot. I opened up the seam took the old elastic out than put a safety pin on the end of the new elastic and than threaded it thourh the cover. I then closed the seam back up and it is good as new.
