If so, do you know any of them? I am curious if any of the big companies have a vision of something like a carseat for every child under 8? Of if the lobbyists are trying to ease Fed Regs so that more seats pass? Ot tighten them so that only their seats pass? I don't know anything about this area.

there is boosterseat.gov that is striving to have every kid under 4'9" in a booster or seat.

many companies are working more with nhtsa's goals of kids rfing longer and being harnessed longer.

But I wouldn't say that, other than boosterseat.gov, there are any lobbyists.

Sorry to split hairs, but a government site like boosterseat.gov is NHTSA's, and not technically a lobbyist's site, although it could be influenced by lobbyists. :) Lobbyists are hired to represent a company or interest group to lobby/nudge/encourage government regulators or politicians to enact policy or legislation that would be preferable for that company or interest group. The OP is asking if the carseat manufacturers employ lobbyists. I wouldn't be surprised, but I honestly don't know for certain. I don't doubt Britax's parent company, the Carlyle Group conglomerate, has a gaggle of lobbyists, but I do not know if it employs lobbyists specifically for child passenger safety advocacy. I do know carseat manufacturers themselves have some direct interaction with gov't. For example, a few years ago, the then President or CEO of Britax testified before Congress on the subject of booster seats.

see, I wasn't sure about the exact definition, so I just sat there and tried to come up with some kind of answer... and the fact they are working as hard as they do seems to me like they are lobbying... so I went with it.

I figured they might not be.

Clearly interesting stuff and not simple enough for an obsessed geek like me... I need to get up to date on all that.
