Regent vs Frontier slot heights

If my son is below the 2nd to top slots on a regent, any idea how much room he'd have to grow in a Frontier? He has about a 1/2" left in the 2nd to top slot. I have a new regent installed with recline bar if that makes any difference.
Thanks:)

I just measured him at 16.5ish" so he should have a good long while in the Frontier - right?:D
Will I hate the straps compared to the regent?

I first purchased the Frontier and ended up returning it as I didn't think it would give our ds3 enough time in the harness. He had just out grown the Blvd and had a torso approx 16.75. If I remember correctly he only has one more square on the frontier to grown. That was installed in our MDX. He had more room in the house.

We ended up with a regent and he is on the slot one down from the top. He doesn't have much room to grow before going to the top slot. That being said his torso growth has seemed to slow since he turned 4. He is now 4.8 yrs old. BTW, the straps on the Frontier a bigger issue with the Frontier than the Regent IMHO. With the Frontier I would always have to dig for them and ds could not dig them out himself but in the Regent he can do it all himself.

With the Frontier I knew it would be outgrown harness wise sooner than the regent and he certainly would not be able to do his seatbelt on his own as that is harder than doing a harness IMO. I wanted him to stay harnessed for longer than the Frontier was going to allow him to so I got the Regent in the end. I will just cross the booster bridge down the road.

Thanks for your input. I am thinking of selling one of my regents for a frontier for my almost 7 yo. When he or my older son outgrow their harness on the frontier or regent, they can switch seats. My ds2 can remain harnessed in the regent and my oldest can use the frontier for a booster.

That was my thought anyway. I just put my oldest in a booster for a week and he earned his harness back real quick, so I need at least 6 months or more before he gets to try again. The impulse control needed to use a booster while sitting next to your brother - I tell you - must take years to develop.

Thanks - I need to remember to check the Canadian forums too:whistle:

Do you like the Frontier? Do you find the straps twisty? Can your older son buckle himself? I know you bought it for your younger son, but just checking!

Thanks and sorry for all the questions.

A could easily buckle himself. Yes the buckles fall under the bum and that could get annoying, but the buckle tongues are nice and wide that there is no folding/twisting of the straps in the buckle tongue (which is my big pet peeve).

I don't typically loosen the harness each time... if I did, the straps would get slung over the armrests and the straps would never twist. However, even with not loosening the harness, the straps have not twisted on me yet.

I love the Frontier. It's got great sleep support and tall top slots. Booster mode already fits A very nicely at only 39lbs, so I have no worries about when we go to use it as a booster in the years to come... it's also ridiculously tall, so it won't be outgrown. ;)

Thank you!

I was not loving the parkway when ds1 used it a couple of weeks ago. It works great for 3 across when needed or as a spare for dh's truck, but I don't want it for full time use.

I think I just might have to go for it! I hope I don't have any installation issues.

My thought is that if your seatbelt is long enough to do a LBP install, then I don't honestly see how you could have an issue installing this thing. :)
