Traveling with toddler to China -- Need recs for a seat, please

I just had a computer glitch -- sorry if this is posted twice.

I will be traveling to China by myself with DD in late September. She is currently 20 months, ~30 lbs, and ~34 in. She rides RF in a MA in my car.

This will be my first time in China. I have no clue what to expect. Has anyone been there with kids in car-seats?

I need a car-seat that is EASY to install in all kinds of cars and not too big -- since I'm expecting cars to be small. Any recs?

Please note that we will be traveling by taxi most of the time.

I have heard that not all Chinese cars even have seat belts. I'll let someone with more experience in that department answer you (I believe someone from here has adopted from China) but I remember someone saying that their dc had to ride on their lap in China because there weren't even seat belts

I have no experience with China specifically, but I have been navigating Asia and car seats since moving to Thailand a year ago. It seems that 3/4 of the taxis here don't have rear seatbelts.

We've had much better luck by spending a little more on transportation and hiring private cars through the hotels we stay at when we're traveling in Asia. No LATCH, but there are seatbelts.

My daughter's Marathon works out well because of the built-in lock-offs (locking seatbelts are not a given, so I don't have to worry about locking clips) and it generally installs well in a variety of car interiors.
