I am so excited!!!!

I got my nephew out of his improperly installed Safety 1st infant seat (the base installed with the seat belt and using the latch as a tether) and into a properly installed (AFAIK) EFTA!!!! :D

I'm going to find the name of a tech through SK to check the install before I leave town.

My DN is growing out of the bucket (3.5 mo and 17 lbs!) so my SIL was going to buy an Eddie Bauer 3in1 with her next paycheck but DH and I offered to buy her an EFTA now. So that's what he's got! :D

I told her about ERF and EH and she likes the Graco Nautilus (or something like it when the time comes) for later. She seems to be all for harnessing until he just doesn't fit anymore, but I'm not sure yet if she'll ERF. She's really big on listening to doctors, so I'll print up the AAP statement on RF. I hope the combination of sometimes ignorant doctors and family pressure don't cause her to turn him before he outgrows the seat. I'll keep working on her though.

I have one question for the techs. Does the EFTA have to be in position 1 for rear facing or can it be in position 2 when the child is older? Or can you just install it more upright (but still in position 1) with some tech-tricks?

TIA!

glad you got him into something better and safer!!

I don't know about the EFTA but I know in the Britax seats, the front 2 recline positions are for FF only and if it's RF it MUST be in the most reclined position. So you have to make your own more-upright installation instead of just using the base to do it. But I'm sure someone here knows the specifics for the EFTA. :)

The EFTA has to be in position 1. Two and three are for forward facing. If you push where the baby's feet will go and add the weight there when you tighten it it'll sit more upright. Just make sure the angle isn't too upright. There's no tether to pull it down again.

Britax seats only have two positions. Reclined and not recline. Or upright or not upright, depending on if you're a glass half full or half empty kind of person. It must be reclined rear facing, but it can be reclined forward facing up to 33 pounds. As the rear facing weight limit is now 35 pounds, using it reclined forward facing doesn't happen much.

Congrats for you on taking care of your nephew! That sounds awesome. I hope she goes in for the ERFing.

That's great! It was very nice of you :)

IME, the EFTA installs very upright. It's ok for my 3 yo but for my youngest I use a rolled up towel to add some more recline. So she shouldn't have a problem with it being too reclined :)
