On another forum someone has asked:

"Chevy Ventura and built in safety seat for kids 22-40 pounds. Does anyone know how safe these seats are?"

I think they're "safe"--I don't think they have SIP though. Our rental van that we had for a few days after DH totalled his car had an integrated child seat, and DD (5 yrs) was dying to try it out...so we let her use it on a trip to and from preschool...it wasn't very comfortable for her, either, she complained most of the time she was in it!
Also, if it's built in and something happened...ie, your car broke down so someone had to pick you up, you wouldn't have a carseat for your child.
Personally, I'd use them occasionally (ie, extra child not usually a passenger in my car, or for a carpool), but for my own kids, I'd want my own seats:twocents:

I would not want to use it for my child's primary seat. but as an occasional spare it could be handy to have around. Unfortunately these are forward facing only, with a limited weight range and rarely fit children well. Plus, should one ever need to ride in a different car (car breaks down, ect), you then do not have a seat that can be transferred to the other car. In addition, if the seat was ever occupied in a crash, it needs to be replaced as well and typically that isn't something people think about (not to mention, it's prohibitively expensive), so it doesn't get done. That's something to be aware of if buying a used car.
