Trading Marathon for True Fit

I am supposed to get a $100 replacement for my Marathon. The more I see the True Fit though, the more I like it. The deciding factor for any seat for me is lock offs. Our seat belts don't lock. Now that I know that it has them, I want one. Would it be horrible of me to order the replacement and then trade it with someone for a True Fit?

What vehicle do you drive? How old is the child who will ride in it? Does it need to fit next to any other seats?

I don't think it's a bad idea at all. I don't own a True Fit, but I've seriously considered one.

Our daughter is 31 months, 34 inches, and 29 lbs. She rids rear facing 99% of the time in a MA in my 93 Ford Aerostar. I am deathly afraid of locking clips and avoid them at all cost!!! Hence the reason I have a MA and BLVD..... She's an only child. So no other car seats. Unless I have my nieces and nephews with me. My only concern is how much front to back room it takes up. In the MA, she was fine. It did touch the back of the seat, but was solid before I moved my seat back. Now with the BLVD, I'm finding that I really need to have it more reclined because of serious head drop issues. Would I need to put the True Fit in the back?
I definitely like my TF more than the MA. I say go for it.

Your posting with your daughter is what really made me consider it.

Would anyone do it?

I didn't trade mine in, per se, but I did buy a True Fit. My Marathon is now sitting in the closet in our spare bedroom, ready to be used as a spare seat if we need to travel in friends' cars (we only have one vehicle.)

I like both car seats pretty equally, but for different reasons. I honestly find the lockoffs on the True Fit much easier to use that those on the Marathon, so since that's a factor I'd say give the True Fit a try. I love the depth and width of the seat and the wings, both which are really great for my off-the-charts kiddo. I do, however, like the harness straps better on the Marathon.
