Hey everyone,

Just curiouse to see who has taken the special needs CPST course and what I might expect from it. I will be taking it next week and I'm really excited! This is the whole reason I became interested in car seat safety and I'm really thrilled that I have the opportunity to take this class! :D

It was alot of info! It was similar to the CPST course in that we had a huge thick binder and followed along the powerpoints, and then afterwards got to play with seats. We got manuals for each of the seats, and leared about them individually the 2nd day. On the 2nd day there was also opportunity to install and a skills test. Then at the end of the 2nd day we had some families come in so we got some hands-on experience, and then at the very end was a written test.

Really Anna? Families with kids with special needs? Hmmmm I wonder if they do that here. I'd volunteer my kids for that.

Yes! There were 3 families that made it. We had seats to give out to the families, but only one family needed one. The one in our group had a Traveler Plus that she had some questions about (no TA in her car, so she was tethering to the seat), and I know that one of the other groups gave a Radian out.

Thanks for offering your experience. That's interesting that having SN kids is part of the cirriculum. I hope it works out that families can bring kids in to our course. I have lots of questions and need to learn specifically about kids with no muscle tone, zero head control, and no ability to swallow so they are at risk for choking unless lying flat with head to the side.

I'm really excited to take this course!
