Help with 3 across in 2008 Honda CRV

A friend wants to carpool to the beach. I drive a 2008 CRV, she has a 2004 Matrix. My back seat is bigger according to Edmunds, so I think we should take my car. The hip room in the back seat is 54.6" apparently. Children: FF 4yo about 40lbs, FF 3 yo about 35lbs, RF 11 month old still in infant seat. Available seats are: MA, Safeguard, Como, Uptown and snugride.

I was thinking of using the MA for the 4 yo, the Uptown for my DS and the snugride possibly without the base. I'm not sure what configurations to try to get them all in. I'll use seatbelt installs for all to get the most room. Maybe Uptown in the center as it's the narrowest seat and then a MA and snugride in outboard positions?

Now I'm regretting not getting a Mazda 5 when we were car shopping, but I rarely take more than 1 child anywhere, so I didn't think I'll need the extra space. I think I might get a Ridersafe vest when DS meets minimum weight limits for future 3 across scenarios and he can go in the center spot.

So, any suggestions on how to make this work for now?
THanks.

I think you're on to something with MA/UPT/SS1, possibly baseless... I wonder if the MA goes 'over' the UPT like it does the Radian? If it does, you're good to go. Measure a little, you may find the middle seat is fine using LATCH (2008 CR-V's have that, right? Center LATCH?).

I don't think the MA will go over the Uptown, I wish I still had my BLVD to try. The Como is out of DH's car, so I could play with that. I think the safeguard is definitely out, I'll put the Uptown beside it and see how much space is left in the other out board spot.

Center latch uses the passenger outboard latch anchor, so it positions the seat too far over into the passenger outboard spot. I might be able to do Latch, seatbelt, latch though.

I just weighed DS and he's lost some weight, so I can put his uptown RF. He'll pitch a fit, but it might be the only way to get it to work. So, MA FF/ UT RF/Snugride is another possibility.

I'll have to play with the seats and see what works best.

For measurements sake:

We have a 2001 CRV (so before the redesign) and I can fit a RF MA in the center and either a RF Evenflo Titan or RF Snugride (20lb/26in limit) with base outboard passenger side. I haven't tried it but am pretty sure I could fit either of those seats on the drivers side as well.

When our MA was FF for a few months, I don't think anything would have puzzled with it.

So, I played with the seats that I have to see what will work when we car pool tomorrow. I could get a FF Uptown center and FF Como driver outboard and both were good installs. I removed each one and the other was still tight. I think the Como is a little wider than the MA, so I'm hopeful that the MA will work in that spot, if not I'll use my Como. I then got a snugride base passenger outboard, but there is no room to click the infant seat into it. I think using the snugride without the base should work. It's not as wide without the base, correct?

I'm kind of kicking myself for getting a Como instead of a radian, that would have been easy Snugride, Radian, Uptown. I rarely take other children, so I didn't think about it. And there's no way DH will give up the Como, he loves the harness adjuster. Oh well, we should be fine for our trip tomorrow. And if I spy a radian on sale, I might bite.

I got 3 across today, I had Safety First Uptown center, unknown 40lb seat driver outboard and a snugride without base passenger outboard - no difficulties at all. I was lucky and my friend's son is just under 40lbs, so we used that seat rather than a MA. Based on yesterday's try out with a Como, I *think* I can get a snugride without base | FF Uptown | FF MA. I'll know next carpool trip. I am still considering buying a Ridersafe Vest for my friend's son to use in the car center, especially when his younger brother is out of the infant seat. My DS is still too small for it, but we could use it when he's big enough.

Cool, glad it worked this time. Don't kick yourself about the Como, you were totally shopping for a different situation back then :)
