integrated child safety seat??

Hello. I have a 2000 Chevy Venture minivan and I haven't used the child safety seat since my 2nd daughter was 4, over 3 yrs ago.

Now my 3rd daughter is about to turn 3, and I was considering using the seat again instead of her Graco convertable seat.

Is it still safe being that is is over 6 yrs old now??

Good question -- interested to hear what the techs say....

I do know that many parents prefer other carseats still because they're usually more comfortable & more are coming out with higher weight/height limits to keep kid safer, not to mention that if you ever want your kiddo to ride in another vehicle you will need a carseat! The built-in seats are great for carpooling & visiting child friends, though

I have been told that integrated seats expire, too. Did you read your vehicle owner's manual for any info on this?

One reason to use a regular carseat over the integrated seat is that the regular carseat will provide more side impact protection since there is a shell around the child. Another reason is the weight limit--the harnesses on integrated seats are only rated to 40 pounds, from what I can recall.

Definitely check the labels (if any) on the seat itself and the owner's manual. If they don't say anything, it should be OK if it fits your child well. Also see:
