Mazda 6 or Passat

Anybody have one of these cars? My dh is really interested in getting a 2006 Mazda 6 I or a 2004 Passat GLS. Any information about these two cars would be great. My dh tends to make hasty decisions and he is going to test drive these cars tomorrow. We would be installing a rf'ing radian 65 in the car and hopefully soon a second seat. Thanks

I was really dissapointed in the front to back room in the backseat of the Passat and I was also installing a Radian RF. I cannot speak for the Mazda 6. I have to say I was shocked when I testdrove the Pontiac G6 after testdriving the Passat. Size wise from the outside it didn't look much different, but inside there was a huge difference. I have so much room up front even with a RF Radian outboard. The rear leg room can be so decieving.

the passat is a nightmare waiting to happen. they simply have too many problems. things break on them all the time. the mazda6 will be much more reliable, and nearly as much fun to drive.

I work in the Automotive business so have some good insight on vehicles. I would go with the Mazda 6.
In terms of the Passat - while it is a nice vehicle, the reliability is terrible. If you refer to consumer reports the reliability of VW's is at the bottom. Plus, VW's are terribly expensive to maintain.
The Mazda 6 has a lot of nice features, cost of ownership is relatively low, and reliability is good.
Go with the 6 - you'll be much happier in the long run.
