Need car seat options for very tall baby

My 4.5 month old son is 26" and barely fits in his Graco snug ride. Since is legs are long, he still has good head protection, but it is obvious we will need another rear facing car seat ASAP. Any ideas? We have access to Fisher Price Safe Embrace, if this discontinued style is recommended. Thanks in advance!

Convertible Seats

Your infant seat is not necessarily outgrown. Your child is still safe as long as he is within the weight limit (I think 20 pounds for the Snug Ride, but it might be 22) and as long as the top of his head is no closer than 1 inch to the top of the shell. Leg length is not considered a safety issue, even though it may look uncomfortable.

In any case, you can move him to a convertible seat at any time. I suggest one with a rear-facing weight limit of 30 or 35 pounds, so you can keep him rear-facing as long as possible. This is the safest method.

The Fisher Price Safe Embrace is a fine carseat. If it is a used one, make sure it is in good condition, has not been recalled, has not been in a crash, has all its parts intact, and is not past the expiration date on the label. Of course, you may find it doesn't fit your vehicle, but this model is usually pretty good for compatibility.

Any other brand of convertible seat is also acceptable. You may find some have features that make them easier to use or easier to install. You can find some information on features and some great links to other buying guides here:
