Road trip-which is safest for my baby?

I have a 11 months old baby who stil *just* fits in her Chicco Key Fit infant seat (she weighs about 16 pounds, and her head is about an inch and a half from the top). I also have a Britax Marathon that I've been waiting to install. We're taking a car trip this week, and I was just wondering which option would be the safest for her? Thanks in advance!

Either is safe provided she fits in both. Which would you prefer to use?

If you think she'll grow an inch and a half in a week, put in the marathon.

I think the chicco is skinner, so if you have other stuff in the backseat, or other people, that may be the better option. OTOH, if you have someone sitting up front the whole trip, the MA may be a better option b/c it can be more upright and take up less room front to back

It might be nice to have the carrier for those times when your child wants to sleep while not in the car and you don't have a safe place to let her rest.

Thanks everyone! Sounds like there's no clear advantage either way as far as safety goes. We'll probably just leave her in the Chicco. Thanks for your responses!

I would take both personally. I would install the marathon and use it, but then if you want to use the chicco for the baby to lay in or sleep in, then just put that in the backseat.

Is she happy in the Chicco? If so then I would leave her in the one that she is used to.
