Wow, I think I regret getting ds1 a Parkway last week

We went to Meijer yesterday ad I checked out the Nautilus. I ASSumed it was like the Turbobooster but w/ a harness b/c that's what it looks like in pics. Ds1 started refusing to use his high back on the TB a few months ago b/c the narrow top of the back part was digging into his back and it was too uncomfy for him. The Nautilus didn't have this problem for him. It looks like it's BARELY wider, but it's just enough for him to be comfy. And he's almost 9, but his shoulders were even w/ the 2nd slot down, so he'd have at least a year or 2 in the harness yet!!! I couldn't believe it. ANd he also said it was very cushy and comfy. He has Asperger's and low tone, so he needs at least a high back, a harness would probably be even better for him. Anybody want a Georgia Tech Parkway, barely used? ;)

(actually, I think my dh would kill me if I bought the Nautilus, but maybe when he starts working his real job if we can afford it then. He's getting his PhD this summer and he got a job in Maryland.)

Could you return the Parkway since you said you've only had it a week?

Wow, your guy is tiny. I've had 6 yr olds. in my Nautilus and they need the top slots, the 4 yr old is in the 2nd from the top.

Congrats on finishing school and a new job!

Just want to caution you that you might lost quite a bit of room in the Nautilus once it's installed. I tried DS in a friend's Nautilus - it was just on the (level) ground in a parking lot. He was slightly below the second from the bottom slots, as you can see in the picture below.

When I bought the Nautilus for him two weeks later and installed it in our car, he was slightly below the second from top slots. Now I'm just about to move him up to the top slots. I'm pretty sure he didn't grow 2+ inches of torso in two weeks. FYI, my DS is 47" and 50 lbs.

My ds is 51" and 50lbs, so that is concerning. Ds2 has a Regent and ds1 still fits in it, but the harness is at the top slots. (ds2 is at the top slots as well, but he has extremely short legs and a very long torso. Ds1 is more evenly proportioned. He's actually not small for his age, just skinny. He's always right on the 50th percentile for height on the growth curve at the ped's.)

Ugh, I just measured him sitting against the wall. His shoulder height is 18.4 inches! So I guess he would be too tall for the Nautilus once it's installed (isn't it 18" or am I remembering wrong?) I wonder if he was slumping at the store. So I didn't make a mistake w/ the Parkway! LOL

DS is about 1" below the second from top slots on his Regent. His torso is about 16.5". It sounds to me like your DS is probably too big for the Nautilus as a harnessed seat.
