Whether or not to trust lock-offs has come up in a few different posts over the last few days, and so I thought that I would share this picture.
That's a seatbelt in my truck. The indents that you see on the belt are from the lock-off on the SS1. There had been a matching set where the other portion of the belt was in the lock-off as well, I'm not sure if it's disappeared or if it's in another part of the belt outside the picture. (I had this picture on my computer for another reason already. )
The SS1 hasn't been in the truck since Sept? 07, and those pictures were taken a couple months ago, so the indents have been there quite awhile. You can imagine that the belt was clamped pretty tight. I've seen marks to a lesser degree with old style ff'ing Britax lock-offs and from rf'ing lock-offs on Britax seats as well. So for those who do worry, I really don't think there's anything to worry about provided the lock-off closes properly and the installation doesn't loosen when you check for movement immediately afterwards.
