My friend has 4 kids in a Honda Oydssey.

DS1 is 7 yrs old, 65 lbs in a Turbo Booster
DS2 is 6 yrs old, 62 lbs in a FPSV Booster
DD3 is 3 yrs old, 41 lbs in a FPSVD
DD4 is 2 yrs old, 37 lbs in a FPSVD

The boys are in the back row and sit well in their seats. If they were mine I would have harnessed longer but they aren't mine. The girls are in the second row bench seat. We gave them the FPSVDs about 10 months ago to replace their expired, ratty AOEs. The girls are so tall that they are even with the top slots in their FPSVDs. I know I can't talk them into Radians or Regents or Frontiers due to price. How do the top slots compare in the Apex and Nautilis? Would that give them much more room? Does one have significantly higher slots than the other? Does one make a better booster than the other? Is there a similarly priced FF combo seat that I am not thinking of?

Yes, the GN has quite a lot more room and will last longer - you can use the base for 9 years!

I haven't had a chance to use one baseless, but as a high-back booster it's comparable to the TB for fit, even for petite kids.

You could probably talk them into the Nautilus by explaining that it would truly be the last carseats they'd need to buy for the girls.

the nautilus has taller top slots than all of the seats you mentioned but the Regent... and that says a lot.

I would definitely recommend they get two (remind them to get them at BRU, use a coupon, and ask for the 10% twin discount (when you buy two of any item)).
