I LOVE our Frontier, but there are two annoying things I've discovered

1. The straps twist easily.

Honestly this surprised me. I  Britax mostly for the fact that I've NEVER had a strap twist on me.
I think it's the difference that the seat has armrests and a L O N G harness. NO velcro to hold the straps back. The buckle tongues slide all the way down to the seat bottom, and when DD gets in me (but mostly DH) can't see the buckle furthest away from us so we blindly reach for it and as it's pulled up the strap folds over inside the tongue and as you continue to pull, it completely twists over.
It's easily fixed ( the webbing is thinner than my other Britax harnesses, and the buckle tongues seem larger .You can just fold it back the other way and slide the buckle over it and it's fixed but still annoying)
I've tried holding the harness open when she gets out but folding up the armrests, but DH doesn't do it, so it keeps happening.

2. The headrest wings rattle when I'm driving and DD's not in the seat.
I don't have a fix for this, luckily it's not often.

Anyone else finding "quirks"???

Ditto...I posted the same thing about the twisty straps last week. :)

Mine does not rattle when dd is not in it though...I drive a car though and it's a pretty smooth ride. It would maybe bounce more and potentially rattle in dh's 4wd explorer?? Maybe??

mamabear,
Did you have a GN you weren't thrilled with or am I confusing you with someone else? If so can you tell me which one you like better? We have a GN and are awaiting the arrival of our Frontier. Just wanted to get your opionion on the 2 seats if you don't mind. Thanks.

Yes that was me.
Oh no, I don't want anyone to think I'm being nit picky!! LOL:eek:

I still prefer the Frontier.

It's a great seat, fits my vehicle and DD better, and I have a much tighter install than with the NA. The NA was an OK seat, and I had minor issues with the quality not being what I was used to (Britax), but the straw that broke the camels back was the fact that I wasn't happy with the install in my vehicle, and the headreast position didn't seem right on my DD compared to the slot height .

I'm interested on your comparison when you get your Frontier too!

Our Frontier's straps are driving me nuts! I hadn't had to help my 4.5 yo buckle up for the past year, and now I have had to get back out of the car to help him untwist the straps every other day.
The cup holders also seem a little stiff and he has trouble opening them up and getting his drink into the inner ring.
Otherwise, the seat is great and installs snugly both with LATCH and SBP in the 2nd row of our Mazda CX-9.
By the way, (in reference to someone else's post) he sits on the buckle cushion and says it is uncomfortable between his legs the correct way.

do you mean the belly pad??
We don't use it here.
If he's not using it up against his body and just sitting on it like my DD does, I would just take it out.

OK,
the strap twist gave me major trouble today!!
I had to have DD get out of the seat so I could get them twisted back the right way...

Off to call Britax CS............
