Quick Help! Part Number and Pics needed!

I posted a few days ago to get the part number for a 1998 Mazda 626 to get a tether anchor installed at a Dealership.

They are giving me the hardest time. Telling me that Mazda dealerships have never installed those, my part number is fake, etc, etc.

The guy doesn't believe that Mazda Dealerships DO install these, so I'm wondering if any of the Techs have an updated part number! (Rebekah gave me the number from her LATCH manual, which is wonderful of her, but they aren't buying that one). I'm also wondering if anyone here has any model Mazda car that had a tether anchor installed at their dealership. If you'd be willing to take a picture, that would be great as they want me to show them proof of other dealerships doing this

Thanks!

Alright, well its amazing what a little proof with paperwork will do.

Suddenly, they were having "memories" of doing these on other cars and "miraculously" found the part

Interesting to say the least.

And Jenny, once I showed him the paper, they said it didn't matter which make, model, or year. Anyway, just figured I'd share that with you in case you were still in need of a tether anchor:)

Hooray!! :D If my back wasn't still messed up I'd want to do cartwheels right now! Thank you, thank you Marisa!

All I should have to do is print out the page from the Mazda website and take it in with me, right? Problem is, I'm doing all the scheduling over the phone (closest Mazda dealership is 1.5 hours away).

I am disgusted that they try to convince customers that they must pay out their a$$ for something they are supposed to do for free. :(

Yeah, don't even get me started on their "rip off" tactics. RIDICULOUS. Especially because this is a SAFETY thing. Goodness

Anyway, I haven't had it installed yet because its going to take four days for the part to arrive at the dealership. But the part HAS been ordered and they already have given it to me free, with free installation happening next week!

So since you are over an hour away, I'd call them with the info from the website, and add that you know someone who has already been told that ALL Makes, Models, and Years are covered under that information. Than hopefully they'll order the part and you can head in for your appointment when it comes in :)

Good luck. And yes, no cartwheels until that back is feeling better ;)

Get their fax number and fax them a copy of the web site page (not just the link). Maybe even fax it twice, one to the person you have been dealing with and one to the department manager.

Yeah faxing is a good idea :)

I'd make sure that both the Service Manager and Parts Manager are on the same page with the information. That was half of my problem because the Parts Manager wanted to "play dumb" and act as if he didn't have a role in the problem as long as he wasn't being forced.

Thanks for the tips, girls! I'll be calling Mazda first-thing Monday and getting their fax number so I can pass this info along and get my appointment scheduled! Woohoo!
