Good carseat day today

First, I got a message from a mom asking why a child has to be one year old before they can face forward. She'd just bought an EFTA (baby is 9 months old) and he's 20 pounds. So why does it say one year?

Fast forward through several messages and she has now installed a rear facing Evenflo in her car and will keep it that way, her nearly six year old 35 pounder is going to go back into a high back booster (she was in a booster labeled from 30 pounds, but it doesn't fit her properly and so she was playing with the shoulder belt). They're also going to use high back boosters for dad's Jeep. The 11 year old got her headrest moved up to a safe height. Mom got told to get the 37 pound dog in a seatbelt because at 30 mph that's over half a ton heading for baby's face.

Then mom told dad as he came home and I left what needed to happen and what I had taught her. :)

Then I come home and there's an email for me to buy a March 2002 Super Elite for $29. The woman had been selling it on CL for $75 and I told her to check the date, it may be expired. She didn't get why it mattered, so I told her to call Britax. She said her partner found it in the manual and yes it was expired, so if I'd like to buy it (she was holding onto $60 before I really got it through her head that selling this for someone to use is a good idea) I can. So I'm going to! I don't have a Regent/Husky/Super Elite. I've never actually touched a Super Elite.

I do have a question about that. How similar in size is the SE to the Regent? I'm hoping to pick up the seat in the next couple of days (and sneak it into the attic. Who here said I could fit three more seats? Now I have three more) and then I want to take it with us to test drive the Mini Cooper. I want to see if that size seat will fit back there properly. The back seats are really contoured and I don't know if it'll work, though the recline bar may shove in there nicely. Right now Piper's next seat is either a pink Nautilus or a pink Regent. If Graco doesn't step forward it's going to be the Regent. So I need to know if it'll fit. Is the SE an acceptable enough imitation to say, "OK, yes, a Regent will fit" if it fits in the Mini? Our Radian is also going because the Wizard puts Piper's head too close to the roll bar, so she'll need a low profile seat in there. And if the Radian is too high the convertible is out.

Super Elite's the same as the Regent (except those newish Regent's that are a tad shorter), and it doesn't have a recline bar. Glad you got it! (It's also been recalled, but it still suits your purposes just fine...except for the recline bar issue... hmmm... <man, I hate that recline bar requirement now>)

Cool about getting those other kids into safer seats, too
